Role Responsibilities
This position performs work essential to the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of the Royal Tyrrell Museum and several Government of Alberta buildings within Drumheller, Hanna, Oyen and Coronation. The services being provided are critical to the overall health of the facilities and comfort of facility users, clients, and visitors.
This position is responsible for trouble shooting building operational needs, correct where possible and report the findings to their supervisor. Providing building needs in cases of emergency or after hours.
The main responsibilities of the Maintenance Service Worker are (but not limited to):
- Perform duties and provide routine maintenance and repair in accordance with the Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA).
- Work with other staff members and contractors to perform major servicing and repair work.
- Inspect equipment and perform quality assurance checks on a scheduled basis to detect operational problems and maintenance issues.
- Change filters, lubricate equipment, clean coils, and replace belts, bearings, motors, and other components.
- Perform general housekeeping in mechanical rooms.
- Keep records of inspections, services, and repairs.
- Support with identifying projects, obtaining quotes, performing site tours, and inspecting and verifying work of contractors.
- Direct communications with building client making sure client requests are directed to correct areas for completion.

Qualifications
Required:
- Building Operator A Certificate or a preferred 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate
- High school with 3 years of related building operations experience or mechanical trade equivalencies will be considered.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Must be physically able to perform the manual duties found in the position assignment.
Equivalency: Directly related education and experience will be considered equivalent on a basis of 1 year for 1 year.
Experience/Knowledge that will be considered an asset:
- Experience with construction and renovation practices and approaches, including mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Experience with safe operation and maintenance of relevant equipment and tools.
- Experience with or knowledge of fire alarm and fire sprinkler equipment operations.
- Excellent knowledge of building operations and all associated mechanical/electrical functions using FMS, WORTS, and BMCS.
- Basic skills for reading blueprints and able to guide contractors to appropriate work locations.
- Experience using tools associated with repair and maintenance of buildings and mechanical systems.
- Good knowledge of AHU, RTU, Pneumatic systems, and DDC.
Assets:
- 4th Class Power Engineering Certification or Building Operator A Certification
- Experience operating various small equipment and machinery (man lifts, skid steers, etc.)
- Experience with operation and maintenance of facilities, facilities project coordination, administration of contracts/leases and budgets.
- WHMIS training
