Role Responsibilities
An opportunity exists for an experienced financial administrator to join the Royal Tyrrell Museum, one of Alberta’s premier cultural attractions.
The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology is an internationally recognized public and scientific museum, mandated with the collection, preservation, protection, presentation, and interpretation of paleontological history, with a particular emphasis on Alberta’s rich fossil heritage. As a key staff member that works with personnel throughout the Museum, you will contribute significantly to advancing these institutional goals.
Reporting to the Director, Operations and Finance, you will work independently in the role of Financial Administration. Primary duties include purchasing on behalf of all Museum personnel, coding invoices and contracts, budget administration, budget reconciliation of all expenditures and revenue, reconciling reports, generating and submitting financial information to Museum Management and Heritage Division financial representatives, asset and surplus management, and daily cash verification.
The successful candidate will have significant purchasing and accounting experience. This position requires a well-rounded, analytical, process-orientated individual who has a problem-solving approach. You should possess a natural aptitude for learning and working with computer software systems and enjoy a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
High school diploma and three years of related experience, or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Work experience in a position that required well-rounded skills to perform multifaceted functions (e.g., sole administrator in a small business), is beneficial.
The following will be considered assets:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
- Knowledge of Alberta government financial procedures and policies
- Knowledge of 1GX software – finance modules
- Accounting major (within Business Administration Diploma)

Hours of work: 36.25 hours/week, Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., work week.
