Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park: Cypress Hills District is located 65km South of Medicine Hat and covers approximately 200 sq km of provincial park. The district includes Red Rock Coulee, Bullshead Reservoir, Michelle Reservoir and Milk River Natural Area. The focal point is the Elkwater town site with 300 cottages, 11 campgrounds,5 group camps and front & backcountry comfort camping. You will work out of both the Visitor Centre and campground booths providing information and retail services, campground registrations and reservation support.
Role
Are you looking for summer employment to help with planning, organizing and delivery education and recreation programs for youth?
We are looking to recruit to 2 summer-based positions operating from May till September 2023.
Primary Responsibilities will include:
- Delivering outdoor and environmental education programs
- Delivering youth-based nature and recreation day camps
- Operating the Boat and Bike rentals at the Marina
- Providing information to visitors on local area attractions, as well as other parks
- Till operation, cash handling, credit transaction processing, cash reconciliation
- Event planning and preparation
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma plus one year of related experience
- Preference for post-secondary education
Assets:
- Experience delivering interpretive environmental and outdoor education program
- Customer service and/or tourism experience
- Experience handling cash, use of P.O.S. equipment and till
- Knowledge of park facilities and services; natural and cultural history knowledge
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite are needed; Microsoft Publisher is an asset

Salary
Based on a 36.25 hour work week: Salary range: $21.67 - $26.37 per hour
Shift premiums will be paid for evenings and weekends:
- $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
- $2.75 per hour for evenings
Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of paid holidays and vacation leave.
- 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
Notes
Terms of Employment:
- This is a full time seasonal position for up to 36.25 hours per week
- On-site fully furnished rental accommodations may be available, no pets
- Class 5 Driver’s License and a current Defensive Driving Course
- Final candidates will be required to undergo a Criminal Records Check
