Role Responsibilities
The Park Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring Alberta Parks sites, infrastructure, and assets are maintained to a high standard to support a safe, high‑quality visitor experience. Reporting within the Regional Operations Branch, this role provides hands‑on supervision of park maintenance operations at a large and/or complex site, or across multiple smaller sites.
This position plays a key role in protecting public and staff safety, maximizing the lifespan of park infrastructure and equipment, and supporting continuous improvement in service delivery through collaboration and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Leadership
- Recruit, orient, train, schedule, and supervise wage and seasonal maintenance staff
- Assign and prioritize daily work activities and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards
- Monitor staff performance, complete performance appraisals, and approve time, attendance, and expenses
Park Maintenance Operations
- Oversee and perform preventative and corrective maintenance of park facilities, grounds, vehicles, and equipment
- Conduct regular inspections to identify deficiencies, hazards, and maintenance needs
- Respond to public concerns and complaints related to park maintenance
- Coordinate and oversee contracted services (e.g., electrical, plumbing, trades)
Equipment, Fleet & Utilities
- Operate and oversee the safe use of light and heavy‑duty equipment (e.g., tractors, loaders, chainsaws, grooming equipment)
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs of equipment and fleet vehicles
- Support the operation and basic maintenance of water and wastewater systems, where applicable
Procurement & Contract Oversight
- Purchase materials and supplies in accordance with government policies
- Monitor service contracts to ensure compliance with terms and quality standards
- Support budgeting and identify equipment replacement needs
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and policies
- Deliver worksite safety orientations and task‑specific training
- Complete safety inspections, hazard assessments, and incident reporting
Planning & Continuous Improvement
- Provide input into facility operation plans, life‑cycle maintenance, and capital projects
- Act as a site‑level subject matter expert to support maintenance and capital initiatives

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Two-year technical diploma in a related field Facilities or Building Maintenance, Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, or Trades Technology, Natural resources); or equivalent as described below
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience.
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Required:
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff and coordinating work in a maintenance, operations, or facilities environment
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, assign, and oversee maintenance activities to meet service standards and operational requirements
- Demonstrated experience performing or overseeing maintenance work related to facilities, grounds, vehicles, and equipment
- Demonstrated experience working in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, policies, and safe work practices
- Demonstrated organizational and time‑management skills to manage competing priorities and operational demands
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills to interact with staff, contractors, stakeholders, and the public
- Demonstrated ability to use computers, mobile devices, and digital tools to support operational tracking, reporting, and communication
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- Valid First Aid and WHMIS certification
Assets:
- Experience operating water and wastewater systems; small system certification
- Knowledge of potable water and wastewater legislation
- Class 3 driver’s licence with air brake endorsement
- Experience supervising contractors and managing service contracts
- Knowledge of emergency management procedures

This is a full-time permanent opportunity in Crimson Lake Provincial Park.
