Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief of the Alberta Sheriffs Police Service (ASPS), the Project Lead provides strategic project leadership, subject matter expertise, and advisory support to advance the planning, development, and implementation of significant ASPS initiatives. This role translates complex priorities into structured project frameworks, implementation plans, and evidence based recommendations that support executive decision making and the operational stand up of a modern police service. Operating within a dynamic and evolving public safety environment, the Project Lead applies sound judgment, systems thinking, and disciplined project execution to ensure initiatives are delivered effectively, aligned with policing and peace officer standards, and responsive to current and future service needs. The position plays a critical role in advancing operational readiness, governance alignment, and sustainable service delivery, while supporting public trust in a newly established provincial policing organization.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Provide specialized subject matter expertise and project leadership to the Chief and Executive Team, advising on complex initiatives supporting the development and implementation of the ASPS.
• Lead and coordinate multi stakeholder projects, aligning scope, timelines, and resources across internal teams, government partners, municipalities, commissions, and external stakeholders.
• Conduct comprehensive research and analysis, including market and environmental scans, to inform evidence-based recommendations for Court Security, Prisoner Transport, and other Peace Officer operations.
• Ensure project activities align with applicable legislation, including the Police Act, Peace Officer Act and Regulation, Alberta policing standards, and the Alberta Peace Officer Program.
• Translate strategic direction into actionable plans, briefing materials, reports, and recommendations that support executive decision-making.
• Track progress, manage risks, and support timely delivery of key milestones while embedding knowledge transfer and building internal capacity to support long-term sustainability.

• Develop Networks: The role is inherently relationship driven and externally facing, requiring credibility and trust across government, policing, and community partners.
• Agility: The role operates in a newly established, evolving policing organization, where priorities, policies, and timelines are fluid.
• Creative Problem Solving: The role is expected to develop new frameworks and approaches where precedents may not exist, particularly for a new provincial policing model.
• Build Collaborative Environments: While the role may not have direct staff supervision, it leads through influence and collaboration across diverse groups.
This is a manager level, enterprise-facing role focused on strategic project leadership, executive advice, and multi stakeholder coordination in a complex, politically sensitive policing environment.
