Administrative Support 2 (AS2) - Visitor Services Attendant

Based on 40 hours per week: $23.79 - $26.76 per hour
Administrative Support 3 (AS3) - Visitor Services Crew Lead
Based on 40 hours per week: $23.28 - $29.46 per hour

In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:

•    5.6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays 
•    6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay

In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:
•    $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
•    $2.75 per hour for evenings

Fish Creek Provincial Park, located in Calgary, is one of the largest urban protected areas in Canada and is enjoyed by millions of visitors annually.

The park is home to the Sikome Aquatic Facility, a popular outdoor recreation swimming area that includes a large artificial lake with treated water, sand beach, a small concession and beach retail shop. A dedicated team of Lifeguards (Safety Ambassadors) and Visitor Service Attendants provide outstanding service to Sikome visitors. 

Role Responsibilities

For summer 2026, we are seeking individuals who have a passion for people and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment to join our team in our Sikome Aquatic Facility. If you are interested in working as a Visitor Services Attendant or Crew Lead, apply today!

We are currently looking to hire:
•    17 Visitor Services Attendants
•    3 Visitor Services Crew Leads

As a Visitor Services Attendant, duties and responsibilities include:

•    Daily opening and closing of facility work areas.
•    Greet visitors, monitor entry and exit gates, carry out voluntary bag checks, provide relevant daily information and direct to appropriate payment kiosks.
•    Process card and cash payments for admissions, retail merchandise items using approved Government of Alberta procedures and Point-of Sales (POS) systems.
•    Reconcile POS receipts and cash sales at end of each shift.
•    Prepare and process payment for concession items following Safe Food Handling Guidelines. 
•    Clean and sanitize concession counters, equipment, prep areas as required throughout shifts.
•    Restock, rotate and maintain retail and concession inventory. 
•    Assist with crowd control, enforcing facility regulations and emergencies as directed.
•    Assist customers with information requests and complaint resolutions. 
•    Light manual labor and janitorial duties such as moving and cleaning concession equipment, washing floors, sweeping, recycling, changing garbage, cleaning staff washrooms, vacuuming, picking up garbage and debris on the beach, etc.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Continued Role Responsibilities

As a Visitor Services Crew Lead, duties and responsibilities include:
•    In addition to Visitor Services Attendant responsibilities listed above, Visitor Services Crew Leads are also responsible for administrative and supervisory duties which include but are not limited to: 
     o    Prepare facility for seasonal opening – cleaning and set up of buildings, offices, safety boards, storage/staging areas, assessment and replenishment of equipment (concession equipment, POS equipment, communication equipment etc.), prep and update files, required forms and manuals.  
     o    Assist with hiring, set up and conduct seasonal staff orientations, training and competency evaluations.
     o    Manage day to day workflow and priorities.
     o    Daily supervision of Visitor Service Attendants in all aspects of job performance and operational requirements including staff scheduling, performance coaching, mentoring and conducting performance reviews and on-site assisting staff with access to required systems.
     o    Reconcile daily revenue, balance floats, prepare bank deposits/cash pickups.
     o    Provide supervision coverage to Safety Ambassadors in absence of a Safety Ambassador Crew Lead. 
     o    Perform required Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements such as completion of monthly facility and vehicle inspections, update safe work procedures, hazard assessments and emergency procedures, staff training, incident reporting, WCB reporting, etc.
     o    Assist facility staff with visitor complaint/conflict resolution.
     o    Order, pickup and maintain inventory for required equipment, stock and supplies. 
     o    Enter and maintain employee records (training, performance, attendance records, payroll information etc.) into appropriate systems.
     o    Maintain facility statistics and daily reports.
     o    Work weekly scheduled Visitor Service Attendant shifts is required. Cover breaks and vacant shifts as required. 
     o    Prepare facility for seasonal closing.
     o    Assist supervisor with other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience required:

Visitor Services Attendant – Administrative Support 2 (AS2)
•    High school diploma
•    Preferred experience - 6 months customer service and cash handling experience. Experience working in a high-volume environment with a concession. 
•    Must be 18 years of age.

Equivalency
•    Directly related experience may be considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education.

Visitor Services Crew Lead – Administrative Support 3 (AS3):

•    High School Diploma and minimum of 12 months (2000 hours) cash handling and supervisory experience in a high-volume customer service setting with a concession.
•    Alberta Class 5 (Full) Driver’s License or equivalent.
•    Final Candidates will be required to provide a standard 3-year Driver’s Abstract prior to commencement. 
•    Must be 18 years of age.

Equivalency
•    Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education OR one year of education for one year of experience.

Additional Assets to be successful in either role:
•    Exceptional communication skills and comfort level in dealing with difficult customer interactions or complaints.
•    Excellent English verbal and written communication skills and comfort dealing with people from diverse backgrounds. 
•    Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a busy facility type environment and remain composed and calm in stressful or emergency situations.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
•    Basic knowledge of Fish Creek Provincial Park amenities.
•    Good listening and conflict resolution skills.  
•    Fluent in languages other than English.

Continued Qualifications

Certifications:

For Visitor Services Attendant positions:
•    AHS Safe Food Handling Certificate (current).
•    Prior to hire, recognized current intermediate Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”/AED Certificate will be needed.
•    Prior to hire, proof of WHMIS training completion will be needed.

For Visitor Services Crew Lead positions:
•    AHS Food Sanitation and Hygiene Course (equivalent to FS1) (current). 
•    Prior to hire, recognized current intermediate Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”/AED Certificate will be needed.
•    Prior to hire, proof of WHMIS training completion will be needed.

Visitor Service Attendants and Visitor Services Crew Leads may encounter emotionally challenging situations, participate in conflict resolution, interact with irritated or difficult visitors or provide support during emergency events or incidents. Applicants should be prepared to manage these circumstances with composure, sound judgement, and effective communication skills. Notes

Approximate start/end dates:
For Visitor Services Attendants
•    Mandatory orientation and training – mid June.
•    Scheduled shifts start – late June.
•    Shift end dates vary from mid-August to September (Labour Day)

For Visitor Services Crew Leads:
•    Position start dates vary (1 position – early April, 1 position – mid May, 1 position – late May) 
•    Position end dates vary (2 positions – late August, 1 position – mid September).

Terms of Employment
•    You have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week and will be paid for the number of hours worked. STAFFING NEEDS ARE IMPACTED BY WEATHER AND LOW VISITOR ATTENDANCE. SCHEDULED HOURS ARE NOT GUARANTEED.
•    All positions require you to work various shifts including evenings, both days of the weekend and holidays.

Staff must be available to work a minimum of 4 shifts per week. Shifts could include working up to 10 hours per day and are scheduled between 9:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.

•    There is no opportunity to take extended time off during the 9 weeks of operation.
•    Wearing a uniform is required.
•    Schedules will be assigned.
