Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Trade Ecosystem, the Trade Analyst leads and supports platforms, initiatives, and projects that enhance coordination across Alberta’s trade ecosystem. This includes providing secretariat support to Trade Team Alberta, coordinating stakeholder engagement and information sharing, planning and delivering speaker series and high-profile trade events, fostering collaboration among federal, provincial, and regional partners, and providing guidance to Alberta businesses on export opportunities, trade supports, and market expansion.
Responsibilities include:
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain collaborative relationships across government and with external partners to support information sharing, consultations, and policy/program insights.
- Project Coordination and Operations: Coordinate trade events, branch activities, and cross-ministry initiatives, while supporting planning, reporting, and administrative processes.
- Strategic Initiatives Support: Assist in planning and delivering priority, cross-ministry initiatives and events, including conferences and trade-related engagements.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research and data analysis to identify trade issues and opportunities, and prepare reports, recommendations, and data visualizations to inform strategic decision-making.

Qualifications
University graduation in Public Administration, Business, Public Policy, Economic Development related field plus four two of progressive experience including is required; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience is considered on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience or one year of experience for one year of education.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Experience in, or understanding of, international trade and export promotion.
- Event planning and hosting experience.
- Good project management and time management skills.
- Demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral. Experience writing reports and/or executive briefing notes.
- Strong research, planning and execution skills.
- Good quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
- Good knowledge of the Alberta economy and it's key sectors.
- Experience with working on team projects to achieve its objectives successfully.
- Able to function well in a team-based environment which demands a high level of interpersonal skills.
- Able to complete tasks independently when directed/required.
- Able to foster good stakeholder relations with internal and external clients; able to request and evaluate information, collaborate with staff in the department and partners - internal to Government of Alberta and external, problem solving when information is not supplied.
- High degree of proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint) and database manipulation.
- Database creation and management skills.
- Business development experience.
- Awareness and understanding of the business plan goals of the Alberta Government and Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration.
- Ability to travel as required to engage stakeholders.
- Valid drivers' license and willingness to drive.

There is one (1) permanent, full-time position, working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
This position is based in Calgary or Edmonton.
