Alberta Law Libraries (ALL) is a province-wide network of law libraries operating within Alberta Justice, Strategy, Support and Integrated Initiatives (SSII) Division. The libraries provide access to legal information resources and legal research services to the legal community (judiciary, crown prosecutors, lawyers, law students and court employees), other libraries and the public.

Role Responsibilities

So, tell us… are you an innovative and service-orientated information professional with a passion for leadership? If so, Alberta Law Libraries is seeking a service-driven, innovative information professional with leadership passion for a Team Lead role in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager of User Experience, the position oversees efficient operations across multiple southern Alberta library locations, including Calgary, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Red Deer.

The Team Lead, South is responsible for delivering prompt legal reference and research services, developing and supporting training for stakeholders, and contributing to strategic planning and procedural development. The role requires strong judgment and multitasking skills to manage complex situations, long-term initiatives, and urgent operational needs across Southern Region libraries.

The ideal candidate would be a dynamic team leader with strong organizational, analytical and time management skills. They will also have exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, a proven track record of collaborative mentoring, and is dedicated to client service.

Qualifications

Master’s in library and information studies (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA accredited institution plus 4 years of related experience. 


Required:

  • Master in Library and Information Studies (MLS/MLIS).

Assets:

  • Law Library experience.
  • Supervisory/management experience.
  • Leadership qualities, including emotional intelligence and people skills.
  • Ability to move projects to completion.

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.

Notes

Hours of work:  Monday – Friday, 8:15 am - 4:30 pm (36.25/week).

Positions currently available: One (1) permanent salaried position.

Location: Calgary Court Centre, 5th Floor, 601 – 5th Street S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2P 5P7.
