The Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services has significant oversight and involvement in the public security and emergency services through its various divisions and operations. The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement, correctional services, policing and police oversight and public safety. The Ministry supports crime prevention and restorative justice programs, as well as programs and services to support victims of crime, including those affected by domestic violence and human trafficking. The Ministry also coordinates large scale emergency and disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs and initiatives.

Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Business Manager, you will be responsible for the operation of the Stores areas for the Calgary Young Offenders Centre and Adult Female Annex, accountable for all equipment and supplies entering the Centre ensuring that items are accounted for including items purchased by the Inmate Welfare Fund. You will have to ensure that adequate stock is maintained and inform the Purchasing Clerk when restocking is required. You will also be responsible for inventory control in the Stores area as well as capital and attractive assets.
In addition to being responsible for the stores area of the Centre you will also oversee the offender property area; including data entry of offender valuables in our offender management system, issuance of offender clothing, laundry operation and stocking offender units with equipment and supplies such as bedding, toiletries, and other personal items for the offenders on both the Female Annex and Youth sides of the building.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Picking up various office equipment and furniture for the items to go to surplus.
- Ensuring that the Living Units are adequately stocked with cleaner/disinfectants which involves filling jugs from the dispensing unit.
- Providing cover-off for the Cleaning Supervisor in their absence as required.
- Delivering and picking up various items to the applicable areas for special events when required.
- Supervising offenders when required in the laundry area.

Qualifications
Required:
Some high school education and one year of related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of one (1) year of related education for one (1) year of experience; or one (1) year of experience for one (1) year of related education.

- Experience in shipping and receiving of inventory
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Operational awareness in a busy environment

- Exceptional organizational skills
A valid driver`s license is required for this position as the successful candidate will be required to operate a Government of Alberta vehicle.

Notes
This competition will be used to fill one temporary (1 year) full-time position.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, day and afternoon shift rotations.
Location: Calgary Young Offenders Centre and Adult Female Annex - 12626 85 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta.
