The Indigenous and Community Partnerships Unit within the Legislation and Community Partnerships Branch oversees a diverse range of mental health and addiction initiatives, including those focused on children, youth, and families. The unit supports implementation through the execution of grant-funded projects and through oversight and management of priority initiatives. Working closely with community and cross-ministry partners and stakeholders, the team monitors emerging issues in the sector and provides strategic policy and implementation advice to government. The successful candidates will primarily support child and youth initiatives within the unit’s broader mandate.
Role Responsibilities
Th unit is currently seeking two Senior Policy Analysts to support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of grant-funded programs and initiatives.
Reporting to a Manager, Policy Implementation (Children/Youth) of the Indigenous and Community Partnership Unit, the Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities:
- Project Management: Applying project management techniques and tools to assigned projects, adjusting project priorities and plans accordingly, to meet government business goals and achieve positive outcomes for young Albertans.
- Grant Management: Managing multiple child and youth focused grants from proposal, agreement, and monitoring stages to close-out, and providing sound advice to guide project implementation and ensuring grant recipient accountability to deliverables.
- Engagement: Fostering sustainable, positive working relationships with diverse partners and stakeholders to further ministry priorities. This includes participating in and representing the department on committees and working groups, as well as facilitating meetings.
- Issue Analysis: Conducting research and policy analysis to inform child and youth mental health and addiction policy and program implementation.
- Briefing and Reporting: Leading and preparing recommendations and briefing materials for decision by senior leadership. Reporting updates, outcomes, issues, opportunities, and next steps to leadership.
- Communication Support: Providing input into meeting materials, correspondence, speaking notes, and other communications documents as requested.

Qualifications
University degree in health, human services, social sciences or public administration or in a related field and a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in:
- Project management.
- Grant management.
- Partner and stakeholder engagement.
- Research and policy analysis.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
The following will be considered assets:
- Experience in child/youth focused health or social services, and/or addiction and mental health services.
- Experience in policy processes is an asset.
