Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that schools, hospitals and government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. The Ministry also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

Role Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator is a key member of the project team and supports the delivery of capital projects to ensure they are delivered within scope, budget, time, and quality to client's satisfaction and within safe working conditions. The Project Coordinator identifies resolution of contract deviations to ensure projects move ahead and on schedule and maintains effective communications and relationships with all clients and stakeholders.

Respsonsibilites include:

  • Establishing and maintaining a network of relationships to influence decision-making affecting project outcomes with internal groups/departments.
  • Assisting project manager in project planning.
  • Participating and assisting with all stages of project design, construction and operational commissioning activities (on multiple projects).
  • Leading and facilitating building commissioning and moves.


The Project Coordinator is the liaison between the client/user, consultants and the construction team and must balance client/user needs within project constraints, obtaining maximum cooperation between client/user groups, support departments, external agencies, consultants and contractors.

Qualifications

Required: Two-year technical diploma in a related field, PLUS 6 years related experience or equivalent as described.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education. 

For Example:

Related 1-year certificate PLUS a minimum 7 years of experience.
Related 4-year degree PLUS a minimum 4 years of experience.
Related 8 years' experience.

The successful candidate MUST also have:

  • Knowledge of project management theories, principles, practices, and processes.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook & Teams.
  • Driver's License (Class 5) or equivalent and ability to provide a clear driver abstract.


Assets:

  • Knowledge of the construction industry, including construction and building codes.
  • Knowledge of the Facility Construction Standards and Guidelines, building materials, components and assemblies and the design / construction process.
  • Understanding of construction practices and processes.
  • Knowledge and experience in Business Administration/Management.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulation and Code.

Term of Employment: Permanent and Temporary up to 2 years.

Individuals appointed to temporary positions are entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees (with a few exceptions), including benefits, paid vacation leave and participation in Public Service Pension Plan.

These temporary-salaried positions have various end dates with a possibility of extension or permanency.

Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week.

Location: Calgary.
