Alberta Infrastructure is responsible for delivering about one quarter of the Alberta government’s Capital Plan, which addresses the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta’s population that support key social programs and services and economic development. 

 

The Ministry designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. Infrastructure also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Special Projects, the Program Coordinator is responsible for providing technical assistance, advice, policy and process interpretations to the Branch, and Education and Childcare for the Modular Classroom Program (MCP).

 

The Program Coordinator is responsible to assist the Manager, special projects and the Project Managers in the delivery and implementation of school modular projects and is a liaison between the client/user, consultants, the construction team and the modular manufacturers and must balance client/user needs within project constraints, obtaining maximum cooperation between client/user groups, support departments, external agencies, consultants and contractors.

 

The Program Coordinator is a key member of the project team and supports the delivery of MCP and capital projects to ensure they are delivered within scope, budget, time, and quality to client's satisfaction and within safe working conditions. The Program Coordinator identifies resolution of contract deviations to ensure projects move ahead and on schedule and maintains effective communications and relationships with all clients and stakeholders.

 

The primary responsibilities for the Program Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with the selected manufacturer(s) and Technical Services Branch staff of Infrastructure is responsible for ensuring units comply with the performance requirements outlined in the RFP.
  • Receiving and reviewing invoices for completed classrooms from the manufacturer and recommends payments are made by the program ministry.
  • Providing technical expertise to ensure that projects are progressing and that issues and problems are addressed and resolved.
  • Facilitating access to various resources to ensure that issues are identified and resolved.
  • Reviewing Prep sheets for orders and project design to ensure that all construction and site requirements have been included, e.g. configuration layouts, site works and demolition.
  • Coordinating manufacturing and delivery work being performed in order to minimize service disruptions.
  • Performing frequent inspections of work area and site documentation to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed and all work is carried out as per quality time and safety regulations/specifications.
  • Providing reports and briefings to the Senior Manager to update project status, provide cash flow projections and cost information.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Two-year technical diploma in Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • PLUS six (6) years of related experience.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License.

 

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

 

Assets:

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Access and Project.

Notes

This position is a Permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).
