Role Responsibilities
The Prevention of Family Violence and Abuse Branch is dedicated to creating an Alberta free from family violence, sexual violence, and abuse. Through a coordinated provincial response, the branch focuses on prevention and the enhancement of comprehensive, community-based services, supports, and programs.
We are currently seeking a Policy Analyst to join the Family Violence Integrated Strategy team. This position reports to the Manager and plays a key role in supporting complex policy initiatives that address family and sexual violence across the province. The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of Alberta’s 10-Year Strategy to end gender-based violence by working collaboratively with internal teams, community organizations, and ministry partners.
Role Responsibilities
• Strategic Planning Support: Conduct research, analysis, and reporting to inform government policy on family and sexual violence prevention. Provide evidence-
based advice by reviewing and analyzing research.
• Project Management: Collaborate with senior staff to lead and support major policy and planning projects. Review, evaluate, interpret, and implement provincial
policies aligned with departmental objectives.
• Policy Development: Compile information into briefing notes, discussion documents, and summary reports. Support the development of new policy initiatives based
on research findings and recommendations. Identify service gaps and provide analysis on key research areas.
• Policy and Program Consultation: Influence project outcomes through effective stakeholder engagement and communication. Coordinate timely information
exchange with ministry staff, other government departments, service providers, and community stakeholders.

Qualifications
Minimum Recruitment Standard:
Requirements:
University graduation in a related field plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalencies:
Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
The following will be considered assets:
- Prior experience in the development and implementation of legislation and/or policy.
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office suite.
- Direct experience with government role, structure, budget, policies and procedures and awareness of the political environment/decision making process.
- Previous project management experience.
- Experience with research methodologies and preparing recommendations.
- Post-secondary degree in humanities, social sciences or related fields to family violence prevention and intervention.
