The Court and Justice Services (CJS) Division provides a wide range of resolution and court services for people involved in legal disputes. In collaboration with the courts of Alberta, Court and Justice Services provides various programs and services including educating and helping Albertans finding solutions for legal issues, navigating the court system, offering programs at no cost or a nominal charge, and administrative support to all courts in Alberta. The Brief Conflict Intervention Program offer parenting conflict intervention services for eligible families, that are delivered by specialized clinicians or parenting experts, and that focus on educating and supporting parents to resolve complex parenting disputes while focusing on the best interests of their children. Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Dispute Resolution Services, you will work within current legislation, department policy and office procedures to lead, coordinate, and oversee delivery of the Brief Conflict Intervention Program. This includes providing leadership and support for Program staff and a roster of contracted service providers located throughout Alberta.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership, supervision, and support for staff and contracted service providers who deliver Brief Conflict Intervention Program services.
- Coordination of Brief Conflict Intervention services, ensuring quality of services and that program policies and procedures are understood and followed.
- Screen cases for eligibility, coordinate service referrals, review and forward BCI Reports as required to meet court and program reporting requirements.
- Act as point of contact for the program, communicate, and collaborate with program stakeholders including Resolution Services’ and court staff, judiciary, and the public to ensure effective and efficient delivery of program services and to support program development and address any issues impacting delivery of services.
- Help lead and participate in program development and operational planning initiatives and/or other projects aimed to improve services for families, including the initial development and implementation of the Brief Conflict Intervention Program.
- Help lead and coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship/coaching processes for contracted program service providers.
- Collaborate with, inform, and provide recommendations to management, and direction to contracted service providers specific to topics impacting the Brief Conflict Intervention Program.
As the ideal candidate, you bring:
- Strong leadership, supervisory and project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Family Law legislation including the Family Law Act, Divorce Act, Protection Against Family Violence Act, Child Youth & Family Enhancement Act, Inter jurisdictional Support Orders Act, Child Support Guidelines, Alberta Rules of Court, and Practice Notes.
- Knowledge of theories related to underlying causes and behaviors associated with family conflict, the impacts of conflict on child development, family violence, and working with parties experiencing addictions and mental health challenges.
- Alternative dispute resolution training and experience providing mediation and alternative dispute resolution services for families.
- Awareness of family court processes, court connected programs and community resources for families in conflict.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications
Required: A Bachelor of Social Work and two (2) years of related experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution, Mediation, or Conflict Management.
The following equivalencies will be considered:
- Master of Social Work and 1-year related experience, OR
- Related University Degree (e.g., Dispute Resolution, Law, or Social Sciences such as Sociology and Psychology) and 4 years related experience, OR
- Related Diploma and 5 years related experience, OR
- Related Certificate and 6 years related experience.
Assets
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Leadership/supervisory work experience (including acting roles or examples where you led a team – please ensure these are clearly outlined in your resume).
- Significant knowledge, supplemented by experience, of theoretical models, specialized techniques, and practical and theoretical processes related to alternative dispute resolution.
- Training and/or work experience in family violence and safety screening processes, family conflict dynamics, and the impact of conflict on child development.
- Experience working with families in conflict in a court environment, and/or with family court diversion programs.
- Training and/or work experience delivering parenting intervention, parenting coordination, and/or parenting assessment services.
- Work experience completing Voice of the Child Reports.
