The Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services has significant oversight and involvement in the public security and emergency services through its various divisions and operations. The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement, correctional services, policing and police oversight and public safety. The Ministry supports crime prevention and restorative justice programs, as well as programs and services to support victims of crime, including those affected by domestic violence and human trafficking. The Ministry also coordinates large scale emergency and disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs and initiatives.

Role Responsibilities
Are you looking for a career where you can help ensure Albertans have safe and secure communities? Then look no further! The Calgary Correctional Centre is searching for a motivated individual and positive role model with cultural and community awareness for a Stockkeeper position.
Reporting to the Bursar Stores Suprvisor as the Stockkeeper you will be responsible for all offender property held in storage at the Calgary Correctional Centre in accordance with Custody Operations Branch Policies and procedures, Calgary Corrctional Centre standing operatind procedures and security standing orders. You will ensure the security, proper control and storage of valuable and common property. You will be responsible for processing personal belongings such as credit cards, various forms of identification, s well as jewelry and other valuables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Control and inventory of inmate property held and secured within Inmate Property Stores.
- Verbal and written communication with inmates, staff, and external agencies such as Calgary Police Services and Alberta Sheriffs.
- Preparation of inmate property for transfer to othe rcorrectional centres, correctional institutions, and external agencies.
- Assit in the Inmate Clothing area, Bursar Stores Supervisor and the intragovernmental courier (Duty Driver) as required.

Qualifications
Some high school education and one year of related experience (stock keeping, working in a warehouse environment)
Equivalency: One year of directly related experience for one year of directly related education, or one year of directly related education for one year of directly related experience.
The following will be considered as assets:
- Experience in an environment including the handling and storage of a client`s personal property.
- Working knowledge and working experience in Microsoft based applications.
- Some general mechanic experience.
- Experience working with forklifts, power and/or manual pallet jacks.
- Experience driving a full-size cargo van.
- Working experience in inventory & data entry.
Direct contact with offenders and heavy lifting is required; the Candidate must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

Notes
This competition will be used to fill one, on-call wage position at the Calgary Correctional Centre. There are no guaranteed hours per week for this position.
In addition to regular wages, wage employees receive 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
• 5.6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
• 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay

The Calgary Correctional Centre is located at 11808 85 Street NW, Calgary. There is no public transportation to the Centre and the successful candidate is required to have access to reliable transportation. Free parking is available.
