Role Responsibilities
Do you take pride in your administrative and supervisory skills and are able to excel in a high volume, dynamic environment? The Calgary Remand Centre (CRC) requires a motivated, energetic administrative professional to contribute to their continuing growth and success.
You will be responsible for overseeing and supervising staff to ensure that Remand Centre employees are provided with all entitlements and benefits in a timely manner. This position has the accountability within the Centre for the accurate administration of pay and benefits based on an extensive knowledge of Correctional Services.
You will also be responsible for the personnel and payroll administrative functions including preparation of all documentation in connection with commencement, employment, terminations, retirement, pay and benefits, daily time input as well as all relevant weekly/monthly reports and statistics regarding position status and overtime requests.
Duties also include processing acting pay, assisting with position management, including the tracking of positions and numbers, and raising job requisitions. You will perform entries on three programs for scheduling and payroll processes (ETMS, Schedule Pro, and 1GX), and review entries entered by the Personnel Administrators for accuracy; You will address any discrepancies before the release pay to the expenditure officer in a timely and accurate manner.
Being the liaison between Centre staff, Pay and Benefits, Human Resource Services, Workers’ Compensation Board, Long-Term Disability and Centre Management, you will require well-developed communication skills and discretion. Maintaining an in-depth working knowledge of the Master Agreement and human resource policies and procedures is a must. Superior interpersonal skills are essential in providing effective supervision to personnel staff. Reliability and punctuality are paramount to this position.
As the ideal candidate, you will maintain a high standard of discretion through your regular exposure to confidential information. This position functions with very little direct supervision, and as such, the ability to remain focused and self-motivated is essential.

Qualifications
High school diploma and three years of related experience (Branch Administrator, Administrative Assistant, Payroll Administrator, Human Resource Assistant, etc.).
Equivalency: Directly related experience or education considered based on one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
Assets:
- Experience working with Government of Alberta Systems such as ETMS, Schedule Pro, ORCA, 1GX, Bernie.
- Working experience with payroll and benefits administration.
Preference will be given to candidates with administrative experience within a correctional setting.

The successful Candidate is required to have private reliable transportation as Public transportation to the Centre is limited. Free parking is available.
