Role

If you enjoy engaging with public stakeholders and Indigenous communities, analyzing and synthesizing data, and contributing to improving the lives of children, youth, and families in Alberta we have an opportunity for you as an engagement analyst with the Ministry of Children’s Services.  This position is with the Stakeholder and Community Engagement unit within the Indigenous Partnerships and Strategic Services Division. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Manager, Engagement Coordination and Research.

The Indigenous Partnerships and Strategic Services division (IPaSS) provides a range of supports to Children's Services, from engagement coordination, ministry strategic policy, legislation, regulations, and policy and program reviews to strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities, leaders, and organizations to improve outcomes for Indigenous children and families, to overall support to program and delivery divisions in  advancing priorities to enhance programs and services to Alberta's children, youth, and families. 
 

This position will play a critical role in the success of ministry engagement projects. Applying theoretical and practical expertise in data collection and analysis, the incumbent will apply qualitative and quantitative methods to engagement data collection, ensuring that public engagement supports evidence-based decision making. The Engagement Analyst has experience designing effective surveys and similar engagement/data collection tools and methods, a high degree of familiarity with engagement programs and platforms, experience working with analysis software, and the ability to translate engagement findings into easy-to-understand summaries for non-technical audiences, including ministry clients, senior management and executives.
 

As this position functions with a high degree of independence and professionalism in a fast-paced environment, the analyst needs to be highly responsive to tight deadlines and demonstrate initiative to manage competing long and short-term priorities. Key characteristics for a successful candidate in this position include demonstrating sound judgement and political acumen, alongside analytical expertise, as results analysis may be used to inform or provide recommendations to senior management and leadership.
 

The analyst will contribute to the collaborative development of Strategic Engagement Plans by providing advice on data collection and analysis. In addition, the analysist will support the implementation of engagement plans through meeting or event facilitation, logistics coordination, and material development and distribution. To support the continuous improvement of ministry engagements, this position will develop and implement an evaluation framework, and research and communicate innovations in public engagement through the department intranet.
 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
 

  • Engagement Survey Development and Analysis
  • Engagement Innovation and Capacity Building
  • Engagement Project Support
  • Support the Stakeholder and Community Engagement Unit to achieve Branch, Sector, Division and Ministry mandate and goals.

Qualifications

University graduation in a related field plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below. 
 

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered based on: 

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education. 
     

Specific requirements:

  • Strong facilitation and public speaking skills
  • An in-depth knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research and analysis methods.
  • An in-depth knowledge of project planning and management principles.
  • A thorough understanding of the complex relationships with Indigenous communities. 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Political acumen and excellent judgement.
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team with the drive to achieve desirable results.
  • Ability to work with the public; and
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Salary

$2,588.06 to $3,397.76 bi-weekly: ($66,714.21 to $87,586.641/ year)

Hours of Work:  36.25 hours per week (full time) Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 4:30pm
