Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. The position is within the Strategic Program Development and Integration unit of the Homeless Supports and Housing Stability (HSHS) branch. HSHS leads the development and implementation of the government’s responses to homelessness, working closely with homeless shelters and community-based organizations to support the delivery of services to Albertans experiencing homelessness. HSHS also collaborates with other governments and GoA ministries to integrate planning, funding and service delivery for vulnerable populations who are experiencing homelessness and who face barriers to achieving housing stability.
Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of the Strategic Program Development and Integration (SPDI) unit, this position is responsible for ensuring that information and data from multiple sources is integrated and translated into guidance that drives provincial homelessness policy design and program funding decisions.
In this role, the Policy Analyst is responsible for:
• Leading research and analysis initiatives: identifying, tracking and analyzing multiple sources of information to assess the impact of government's responses to homelessness and to develop recommendations to guide policy design, service planning and funding decisions;
• Preparing policy analyses, reports, briefing materials and effective presentations that are tailored to a range of audiences;
• Managing complex projects that support innovation in the delivery of provincial homelessness responses, from project inception, design, implementation, and monitoring;
• Coordinating HSHS’s involvement in intergovernmental initiatives, including HSHS’s participation in the FPT Minister’s Housing Forum.
• Participating on collaborative projects, committees, and working groups on issues impacting homelessness in Alberta.

Qualifications
Minimum requirement standard:
University graduation in a related field such as political science, public policy, public administration or Education plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
The position generally demands a high level of originality and agility, as well as the ability to independently analyze complex issues and develop creative and timely responses. The position makes significant use of coordination, communication, consultation, research, analysis as well as presentation, writing, and organizational skills.

Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
This position would be based in Edmonton or Calgary.
