Role Responsibilities
Are you ready to lead initiatives that strengthen Alberta’s public agencies and drives key policy priorities across the Ministry of Affordability and Utilities? Join a team that plays a central role in shaping governance practices, advancing strategic policies, and supporting meaningful engagement at the provincial, national, and international levels.
As the Manager, Agency Governance, Outreach and Policy, you will provide strategic leadership in coordinating the ministry’s policy agenda, overseeing public agency governance, and guiding outreach initiatives across government. You will ensure priorities are aligned, support informed decision-making, and advance initiatives that strengthen accountability and coordination in policy, governance, and engagement
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead agency governance functions, including oversight of public agencies, board recruitment processes, and key governance documentation.
- Guide and coordinate the ministry’s policy agenda by aligning priorities, supporting decision-making and advancing strategic policy development across divisions.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on policy, governance, and legislative matters to support effective planning and implementation.
- Oversee agency reviews, governance evaluations, and succession planning for board appointments.
- Support outreach and engagement activities, including planning and coordinating participation in national and international initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to support policy coordination, governance alignment, and engagement planning.
- Lead and mentor program services staff, fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and respectful team environment.
- Manage unit operations including HR processes and workload balance.

Qualifications
University graduation in Public Administration or Social Sciences plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Required Experience:
- Agency governance.
- Policy development and coordination.
- Knowledge of government structures and regulatory frameworks, including legislation and decision-making processes.
- Project management.
Assets:
- Outreach and engagement coordination.
- Experience with advocacy strategies to influence policy or decision-making.
- Supervisory experience.
