Role
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Correctional Services, you will provide strategic direction for evidence-based approaches to offender management and security that create responsive, solutions-focused services and systems. Overseeing operations of eight adult correctional centres and two young offender centres across the province, you will provide leadership to ensure effective program delivery and resource management. Modelling a highly collaborative approach, you will engage stakeholders in the development of policies and programs that deliver on the dual responsibility of public safety and successful community reintegration of individuals in custody.
As a respected leader, your relationship management skills position you for the responsibilities of significant human resources and equip you to effectively address employee relations matters within a complex union environment. Your agility, proactive planning and service-orientation will also equip you to champion cultural change as we move forward with progressive Correctional Services initiatives.
Qualifications
This challenging role demands a credible leader with extensive related senior management experience in a 24/7 operations environment. The ability to coordinate care and service delivery for a diverse, vulnerable population combined with requirements for security and safety of staff, individuals in custody and government infrastructure is critical for success in this position. Your background demonstrates success in negotiation and managing human resources and labour relations, and a record of working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
Relying on your systems approach, your capacity to manage high profile issues and your strengths in policy development, contract administration and fiscal management will support you in delivering on your mandate. Your commitment to service excellence and reputation as a leader who empowers and nurtures the potential of large, diverse teams will set the course for organizational renewal. Knowledge of the criminal justice system and a related degree are preferred.
